Natural Brown Look With Drugstore Products

It's early in the morning. You get out of bed and shuffle groggily to the bathroom. You steal a glance at the mirror and wonder for the hundredth time why you look so horrendous. Indeed, fatigue and stress can be a lethal combination. But with the right makeup, you can easily strut out with a fresh and flawless looking face.

A little really does go a long way. You don't have to slap on globs of makeup on your face to carry off the natural look. Heavy makeup will just ruin the beauty of your face. So ladies, please stay away from the likes of Taylor Momsen!
One doesn't need to purchase high-ended cosmetics to achieve the natural look. Drugstore products like Maybelline, Loreal, Etude House and Silkygirl work just fine. Not only are they far more affordable, they also come with reasonably good quality.

I've chosen drugstore products needed to create a natural look. Each of these products are under RM 50. There're nine steps altogether.

1) Maybelline Angelfit Concealer (RM 19.90)
Start off with a clean face and apply concealer to your dark under eye circles, redness around your nose and mouth, pimples and blemishes. Use a concealer with a hint of salmon for dark under eye circles and one with a hint of green for redness. Think of your face as a canvas. You want it to look as flawless as possible.

2) Maybelline Angelfit Two Way Cake Foundation (RM 37.90)
Apply foundation to even out your complexion. For a more natural look, opt for a pressed powder foundation. It's easier to apply and not as heavy as liquid foundation. The result will be a more matte finish. Make sure that the foundation matches your skin tone.

3) Silkygirl Natural Brow Pencil (RM 9.90)
Eyebrows are so important because they frame your face. Thus, ensure that they are always well-groomed and filled in approprately. Your brows should be two to three shades lighter than your hair color. Lightly fill in any sparse areas with an eyebrow pencil and brush them back into place with an eyebrow brush.

4) Etude House LUCIDarling Fantastic Gradation Eyes (RM42.90)
Nothing suits a natural look more than brown shades of eyeshadows. Brown tones like taupe aren't too harsh against the skin. Thus, it creates a softer look which is easier to carry off. Apply the taupe color onto your eye lids. Then add a bit of the second darkest brown color to the outer V of your eyes. This creates dimension. Blend the shadows well so that the lines are not so obvious. Line your lower lash line first with the taupe color (stop at the middle of the eye) and then continue with the dark brown color (all the way to the end). Apply the cream highlight color to the browbone and inner corners of your eyes to get the finished look.

5) Maybelline Long Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (RM39.90)
Eyeliner is a must for us gurls who want bigger looking eyes. For a more subtle and neutral look, opt for brown. But if you like a stronger contrast of colors, go for black eyeliner. Gel eyeliner is applied with a brush, preferbly an angle brush for precise application. Take your time and draw on a thin line that thickens slightly towards the end. Keep it nice and crisp. Wing out the eyeliner a little for an edgier look.

6) Maybelline Volum'  Express Cat Eyes Mascara (RM36.90)
Mascara is a must for those who want wider looking eyes. Longer, fuller and thicker lashes can instantly open up your eyes. It is best to apply mascara after you've curled your lashes with a lash curler. That way, your lashes will stay curled for a longer period of time. It is also advisable to stick to a waterproof mascara if you want to avoid smudging. Use the wand to comb through your lashes evenly to avoid clumping.

7) Silkygirl Shimmering Duo Blush (RM19.90)
There is nothing more gorgeous than a natural-looking tint of blush on dewy cheeks. Not only does it accentuate your cheeks, it also adds that extra oomph of sweetness. Apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks and sweep it up towards your temples. Be careful not to apply too much.

8) Maybelline Watershine Pure Diamonds Lipstick (RM24.90)
For a natural look, pucker up with a nude or nudish-pink lipstick. You can always opt for a matte or shimmery lipstick. Shimmery colors add an interesting touch to an otherwise neutral face whereas matte shades generally create an understated look. It's advisable to line your lips with a lip liner prior to applying the lipstick. This is done to prevent the lipstick from "bleeding."

9) Etude House Golden Ratio Face Glam (RM49.90) - Optional

Hightlighting the key points of your face can enhance your appearance by giving you that lovely luminous glow. Apply this to your cheekbones, T-zone and chin. This creates an illusion of a higher nose and cheekbones. For fuller-looking lips, dab a bit of the highlighter to your cupid's bow.

This brown natural look is perfect for work or a casual day out. It's sweet, simple and not too loud. Drugstore cosmetics are an excellent choice for those who cannot afford expensive brands. They may not be able to compete in terms of quality but they're still good enough to be used :)
